School Success Coaching Webinar Series

Are you worried about your child’s learning or health at school? Children’s Wisconsin is here to help parents and caregivers with school health and learning challenges. Sign up for our 6-part School Success Coaching Webinar Series to learn about:

  • Navigating special education
  • Managing health symptoms at school
  • Advocating for a child’s success in the classroom

The webinars are:

  • Free and all Children’s Wisconsin families can attend
  • Biannual each spring and fall
  • Live and recorded so everyone who registers can watch on their own time 

Webinar Topics

Session 1 teaches parents and caregivers how to become a project manager for their child’s educational advocacy.  Participants will learn:

  • The project manager’s role and responsibilities
  • How to make a project manager’s binder
  • School advocacy tips and tricks

Session 2 introduces our Health-Body-Brain Connection Logic Chain – our key strategy to explain the link between health and learning.  This webinar discusses:

  • How chronic illnesses show-up at school
  • The role of health in education plans
  • Barriers to accessing school services – and how to overcome them

Session 3 explains how to use the Health-Body-Brain Connection Logic Chain to manage health at school. This webinar is a deep dive into:

  • School health plans and tips
  • Describing medical conditions with details schools need to know about
  • Explaining overall body and health impacts, managing symptoms, and supporting limitations

Session 4 teaches participants to use the Health-Body-Brain Connection Logic Chain to explain the impact on learning.

Participants will learn to describe how child’s medical condition can impact:

  • Brain structure and function
  • Neuropsychological delays and deficits
  • Educational performance

Session 5 empowers parents to take an active role in supporting their child’s education plan.  This webinar teaches participants how to Climb the IEP Ladder while they learn about:

  • Types of education plans
  • The purpose and importance of each part of the plan
  • What to do when good plans go awry

Session 6 looks into the future and helps parents take steps with their child today to prepare to reach their goals in adulthood.  Participants will learn about:

  • Making a Long-Game Plan
  • School success strategies
  • Supporting transitions

Kyle Landry, MEd and Christie Ruehl, JD, MBA lead the Educational Achievement Partnership Program (EAPP) at Children’s Wisconsin. The EAPP’s mission is to help children with chronic illnesses succeed in school. Kyle and Christie have 20 years of experience helping medical, family, and school teams work together.
