• Official documentation of an associate degree prior to admission or proof of enrollment into a bachelor’s degree program through an affiliated university

After application submission, eligible applicants will receive an email with instructions on how to complete a pre-recorded one-way video interview. Video interviews will help determine final eligibility for an in-person interview.

All applications received will be reviewed and evaluated based on the completion of all required application material, required courses GPA, work experience, personal statement essay, and a pre-recorded one-way video interview.

Based on application review, CWSRT will determine applicants that will be invited to interview. The interview process will consist of an in-person interview with a panel of faculty members.

CWSRT will extend acceptance offers to top applicants based on application, transcript, personal statement essay, and interviews.  Participation in the program will be contingent on the student’s ability to complete all required Children’s Wisconsin onboarding requirements and successful completion of prerequisite courses.

The CWSRT Program Director will notify all applicants of final decision via e-mail by April 1st each year.

Selected students must:

• Return Intent to Enroll document via e-mail by April 6th.
• Submit a non-refundable commitment fee based on enrollment type as outlined below:
  • University Affiliated student to submit $100 commitment fee.
  • Direct Admit/Community student to submit $200 commitment fee.

Transfer Policies

• Children's Wisconsin School of Radiologic Technology accepts the transfer of a student from another JRCERT approved program when the following requirements are met:
• The applicant will not overload class size as determined by the Program Director.
• The applicant has maintained a 2.0 GPA or better.
• Previous course sequencing is like that of Children's Wisconsin School of Radiologic Technology (an official transcript must be submitted).
• Submit a letter of reference from the previous Program Director or/and University Educational Coordinator.

*Requests for such transfers are handled on an individual basis. A student considering transfer should contact the Program Director.

*All transfer students will need to meet Children's Wisconsin School of Radiologic Technology graduation requirements.

In alignment with ARRT requirements, the program does not offer advanced placement.

Tuition and Fees

Students affiliated with a university will pay tuition and fees to their university in accordance with university requirements. The affiliated university will remit payment to CWSRT.

Students not affiliated with a university will be required to make payments by the start of 1st and 2nd semester (Year 1) and 4th and 5th semester (Year 2) totaling $10,000/year.

All Students will be responsible for the following fees:

• Approximately $1500 for textbooks
• Approximately $23-30 per CWSRT required scrub top for clinical and scrub bottom of their choice. Additional Children’s Wisconsin apparel may be purchased if desired.

Tuition Refund Policy

In the event a student affiliated with a university withdraws/cancels participation in CWSRT for any reason, the student will need to seek a refund from their affiliated university in accordance with the university’s withdrawal/cancellation policies.

For students not affiliated with a university, CWSRT will follow guidelines set by Wisconsin Legislature: SPS 408.05 for refund guidelines.

Program Framework and Curriculum

The fundamental framework of the CWSRT program is based on the Standards for an Accredited Educational Program in Radiologic Sciences as established by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). The curriculum content follows the requirements established by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. Graduates are eligible to apply for admission to the certification exam administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (“ARRT”).

Academic and Clinical Hours

School hours are from 0800-1600 unless otherwise assigned. Students are never scheduled for more than 40 hours per week of required classroom or clinical time. The students should arrive to have sufficient time to be in the assigned room/area prior to the class and clinical start time. Students must report for all scheduled class, clinical and simulation times.

Clinical hours will vary based on location.  Standard clinical hours for 1st shift are between 0800-1600 and 2nd shift 1600-2200. Students will primarily be assigned to 1st shift with some rotations on 2nd shift.

Students are to remain in their clinical areas until their assigned dismissal time and are not allowed to leave without approval from CWSRT Faculty.

Clinical hours are site dependent and listed prior to rotation.

Academic Grading

Grade Point Average (GPA) is computed by dividing the total grade points earned by the total credit hours attempted.

Scholastic Standing

Students are in Good Standing if a "C" (2.0) average is earned in all courses. The student must achieve a “C” or higher in all Radiologic Technology courses to graduate. A GPA falling below 2.0 will result in dismissal from the program. Students must also complete all required ARRT Competencies. Students are required to complete a set of competencies per semester that will be included in the Clinical grade.

Termination

A student who does not maintain a cumulative grade point of 2.0 ("C") will be dismissed from the program. Also, a student who fails to earn a "C" (2.0) in any repeated course will be dismissed. If a student is on academic probation, the student will be dismissed from the program after 3 failed examinations. If the student is on clinical probation, the student will be dismissed from the program if they receive 3 clinical competency assessments below 85%.

Students are eligible for graduation when they have fulfilled the following:

• Clinical Requirements - Successful completion of all clinical (mandatory and elective) competencies.
• Academic Requirements - Complete a minimum of 65 credit hours of course credit plus successful completion of non-credit courses.
• Achievement of a "C" (2.0) grade average in all courses.
• Have fulfilled all financial obligations to the school/hospital.

Completion of the program results in eligibility for the ARRT Examination.

Each student will receive an application form for the registry exam in the spring of their second year.  The ARRT rules and regulations require that candidates must successfully complete a program of formal education before sitting for the exam.  The registry examination is a computer-based exam that will be scheduled at a certified testing center.

In alignment with Children’s Wisconsin policies and procedures, should a student have a grievance or complaint, it will be heard in the following manner and order:

Phase 1: The student and Program Director attempt to resolve the issue

The student writes a statement of the problem/issue along with the desired outcome and submits it to his/her immediate program director. Within five (5) working days, the program director should meet with the student to discuss the problem or issue and then follow up with a written reply to the student. For this purpose, Monday through Friday is considered working days and holidays are excluded.

Phase 2: The issue is forwarded to the next administrative level(s) for resolution

If satisfactory resolution is not reached, the student may continue the process by submitting, within five (5) working days, a statement of the continued problem/issue and the desired outcome to the next administrative level, which would be the Chief School Administrator.

At each level of the problem resolution process, the administrator or their designee should investigate the issue, meet and discuss the issue with the student, review relevant documents, and review the issue with other faculty as needed.  The stated response times for administrators are guidelines and may be extended by notifying the student if additional time for investigation is needed.

Should any student have a complaint that does not warrant the utilization of the grievance procedure, the student should discuss this complaint with the Program Director. The Program Director will work to resolve the complaint in a timely manner and will communicate the actions taken with the student making the complaint.

Program Standard Violations: Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)

• If a student thinks the school is in violation of any JRCERT Standards the above steps outlined in the Grievance Policy should be followed.
• These steps should be followed by all students to ensure satisfactory resolution of any problem. The student also has the right to contact the JRCERT directly with any question of a standards violation if the following result was not satisfactory.
