I am a pediatric nurse practitioner with expertise in disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI). I specialize in conditions including cyclic vomiting syndrome, chronic nausea, reflux, functional abdominal pain, irritable bowel syndrome, functional constipation, and dysautonomia. Some of these conditions improve very quickly and some take longer through a step-by-step process. It is important to treat patients holistically, looking at not only their GI disorders, but also how health impacts their home life and ability to participate in the activities they enjoy. After nearly two decades as GI nurse practitioner, I recently also earned the doctor of nursing practice degree to support quality improvement projects that I lead and contribute to within GI and throughout our hospital. I educate other health care professionals on DGBI at local, regional, national and international healthcare meetings. A favorite part of my role as a health care provider is seeing kids with support of their families overcome health challenges, feel better, and be able to focus on just being kids.
